Results from the 2026 IBJJF World Championship have been revised after violations by Rider Zuchi and Tayane Porfirio. In the adult male black belt heavyweight division, Nicholas Maglicic is now the gold medalist, with Leo Ferreira in silver. Francisco Papasidero and Luiz Felipe Assis dos Santos share bronze. Alliance now leads the adult male team standings, ahead of CheckMat and AOJ.

Rider Zuchi has agreed to a three-year ban from competition for a doping violation, starting July 1, 2026. His results in IBJJF-sanctioned competition from August 23, 2024 onward are disqualified, and that led to changes in the adult black belt male heavyweight division and the male team standings. The heavyweight podium now reads Nicholas Maglicic first, Leonardo Silveira Ferreira second, and Luiz Felipe Assis dos Santos and Francisco Papasidero sharing third. In the team standings Alliance is first, CheckMat second and AOJ third, with AOJ moving into bronze on the strength of Papasidero’s added points. Tayane Porfirio, for her part, has accepted a three-month ineligibility that began on July 8th, 2026, and her case altered the results in the female black belt super-heavyweight division, the open class, and the overall female team standings.

The IBJJF World Championship is the federation’s flagship championship, with divisions split by belt, age and weight class. The federation has not signed the World Anti-Doping Code, but it contracted USADA to test athletes at this event, and it is USADA’s findings that triggered the revisions.

Medals, points and team placings at the Worlds are used to judge who is at the top of the sport. A late correction means that picture changes after the event is over. Ferreira and Papasidero both move up in the heavyweight standings, and AOJ’s team bronze shows how one athlete’s points can decide a team placing. The case also shows that testing at an IBJJF event can lead to results being rewritten, and that it carries consequences beyond the athlete concerned. The female revisions are confirmed, but the available details do not cover the exact new placings.

Ferreira and Papasidero are both among the announced contenders for the 2026 IBJJF Crown, an invitation-only, one-night event on November 8th at the Pyramid in Long Beach, California. Ferreira is in the heavyweight field and Papasidero in the ultra-heavyweight field.

Open class is a division not limited by weight, so competitors from different weight classes can meet in it.
